Solo Projects (2014-present)
densing
My second solo CD, released in April 2021. "densing" is a collection of improvisations for tuba with electronics effects pedals, reflecting on the relationship to the space in which the music was made — during the course of the improvisations, the room collects and resonates frequencies, which in turn influence the electronics, continuing in a gentle cycle of feedback and unexpected aural circumstances.
To describe this phenomenon, and its textile analogue, the fake verb ”densing” was coined:
densing (v.)
1. the process of felting wool through heat, pressure, and moisture
2. the building up of reverberant sounds in a small room
